Dr. Eun-Young Lee Presents at the 2nd Yonsei Salutogenesis Symposium
On May 30, 2026, Dr. Eun-Young Lee delivered a presentation, “Toward a Salutogenic Paradigm for Physical Activity and Planetary Health,” on Day 2 of the 2nd Yonsei Salutogenesis Symposium, hosted by the Institute of Salutogenesis at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
Drawing on emerging work in physical activity, health promotion, and planetary health, Dr. Lee argued that the field of physical activity must move beyond its traditional biomedical focus on disease prevention and physical inactivity. Instead, a salutogenic approach emphasizes the creation of conditions that support health, well-being, resilience, social connection, and ecological sustainability across the life course.
The presentation highlighted opportunities to reposition physical activity as a contributor to broader societal goals, including climate action, health equity, social cohesion, and sustainable development. This work forms part of Dr. Lee’s ongoing efforts to advance a new paradigm for active living that integrates salutogenesis, planetary health, and systems thinking.

The symposium brought together scholars, practitioners, and students to explore how salutogenic thinking can inform research, policy, and practice aimed at creating healthier and more sustainable societies.
