Mikyung Lee publishes a systematic review on religion and COVID-19

Mikyung published a systematic review on the roles of religious communities during the early stage of COVID-19 in the Journal of Religion and Health.

In Situ’s current PhD student, Heejun Lim and Dr. M. Shobhana Xavier, an assistant professor at the Department of Religious Studies at Queen’s University are co-authors of the review. We also thank Yvonne Supeene (aka Froggy) for providing editorial feedback on the final manuscript.

In this review, we found that religion could be a double-edged sword in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Religious communities have played detrimental and/or beneficial roles as a response to COVID-19 pandemic. The findings of our review call for taking a collaborative approach among religious communities, health science, and government is critical to combat COVID-19 crisis and future pandemics/epidemics.
